Daily Bread 3-6-19

John 8:2-7

2. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had sat her in the midst,

4. They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6. This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you let him first cast a stone at her.

Lv 20:10 - And the man the committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

v.7 - Dt 17:7 - The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.

Job 5:12 - He disappointeth the device of the crafty, so their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

Mt 7:1-5 - Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote of thy brother's eye.

First of all, let us establish that this is one of the most misused pieces of scripture in the Bible. Now that this has been established let us look into it further. Jesus was bringing a clean and holy gospel to the people. They were coming to him by the multitude. Even though the scribes and Pharisees were also given this clean gospel they questioned it. It went against what they had been given in the Laws of Moses and they had proof through these Laws. But Jesus rather put it to them that they did not hold the power of judgment if their own cup was dirty. He first protected this woman from those that wanted to judge her and kill her off and then he communicated with her what she needed to do. But the scribes and Pharisees were defeated by their own beliefs. So, how does this affect us today? In so many ways, but not in the ways of men's judgment. Many like to follow the judgment of the Laws of Moses when it doesn't pertain to them or their own, but seek for mercy when it does. This is not according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This being the Gospel that we have been given to live under. So strive to remain under this gospel and first, you will be protected from the judgment of the non-believers(this being the ones who cling to the Law and do not follow the teachings of Christ.), and secondly, he will chastise us through his gospel and show us how to come to perfection under HIS ministry. If you find yourself trying to live under the Laws of Moses, repent, and admit your faults, and he will forgive you of your sin. Let him transform you through his Holy Spirit into the "right" thinking man or woman of God that you are created to be. And be sure to thank him every day that we have not already been consumed. And remember, when caught up in a fault, do not run from them who want to destroy you, call on Jesus. He, and only he, will pull you through. His love, his correction, his leadership, his gospel, his perfection, is more than enough!! Have a great day!!
