Romans 13:12

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

ref. - Eph 6:13 - Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

When we are ignorant or disobedient to the call of God and his will we are in darkness. We are not willing to claim disobedience if we are ignorant and we are too prideful if disobedient. But, nonetheless, we are in darkness. So we skirt around the truth, we try to sweep it under the rug, we claim ignorance, we come up with excuse after excuse when convicted to say that we are not guilty. But, God knows. This is why the Apostle Paul told the Romans, and we are being told today, we can't get by using the ways of the world if we plan to serve God. The more we learn and the more we get closer to him, the more we will know this. So, let us first use repentance and then move forward into knowledge and understanding, walking out into the light from the darkness. As we become, and are known as, Christians, we must begin to use the armor of God rather than that of the world. Rather than evil and vengeance, hate and even ignorance, let us use love and forgiveness, caring and understanding. Rather than trying to dig up our old ways and the worldly ways of growing, let us use what we have been given when we were put into the light. that light being Jesus Christ. What is the first thing that happens when a person is transformed into a Christian? Others begin to watch us. But not only others, we are now being watched and held accountable by our Lord as well. Each time we stumble there is someone there to let us know. We are no longer sneaking around in darkness but we are out in the light before all. If we use the ways that the world teaches then they say, "What makes you different then?" The answer is nothing. So we must cling to the things of God, knowing that our lives will become an open book and that we will not be able to hide things and get by, but rather we will be exposed around every corner and must possess the things of God to come out unconvicted. A very wise man once told me, If you don't want to get into trouble, then do nothing to get you into trouble. So simple, but impossible to achieve without the armor of God. This armor is truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God. These things are only available through Jesus Christ and he is willing to endow us all if we will only repent and follow him. So, won't you come out of the darkness and step into the light?
