Daily Bread 12-13-18

Romans 6:1-3

1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any more therein?

3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

ref. - Ro 3:19,20 - Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them that are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law its the knowledge of sin.

Col 3:3 - For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

In many circles it is taught that there is such a thing as acceptable sin. For if we never sin, then Christ cannot do his part in grace. If we tangle this web we will get caught up in it so let us just go to the word of God and see what the Apostle Paul had to say about these foul doctrines and worldly preachings. The word of God says that we are dead to sin. The if we have been truly transformed by Christ that sin no longer lives in us. Can it be reborn in us? Depends on where our faith lies. But in no way, shape, or form, is sin to be a part of our lives in Christ as sin does not dwell in Christ. If we are caused to sin, we have looked away and need to repent. But as our faith grows in Christ so should the desires and lusts of sin decrease in our mortal bodies. As the brain leads the body so does the soul lead the mind. Rather than to listen to gainsayers and those who wish to remain in sin themselves we must rather follow the lead of God's holy word and believe that God has truly removed the sin from us if we are in Christ. Let us put it this way, as many have experienced this; If a person dies, we have a funeral, put them run the ground. Do they ever return? Can we bring them back? Can we recreate that very person anywhere else or through anyone else? The answer is no. We have to learn to cope with the loss but few will never see them walk this earth again nor will we ever be with them again(read your Bibles kids, it is written, Rev. 21:3,4). Just as this happens to us on this earth, so should it happen to us in our hearts and souls. If the word of God says that we are dead to sin we then we must believe that the only way that sin can enter us is of we turn away from God and allow it. This is easier said than done with all of the enticing free spirited doctrines that are given and misinterpretations and worldly deviations from the word of God. But we do have a pure word, and a true word, that we must follow. And it will be when we truly believe and pray earnestly for God to intervene in our lives that we will be able to flee from sin. It has been taken out of us not to return. If we don't leave an exit door or a side door available then it will make it harder for us to walk away from the path that we are called to walk down. That is to follow Jesus Christ and let the dead sin bury the dead sin. It is no longer who we are or what we are. It is real, it is true, and it is possible in Jesus Christ!! Have a great day!!!
