Daily Bread 11-30-18

Acts 9:11

And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

ref. - Ac 21:39 - But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

This was a vision between the Lord God and Ananias. To us this is a great story of a man who needed help. You see, he had pushed the Lord as far as he could push him and, in so doing, his sight was taken from him. But as we know, God is love and he was going to give Saul a chance to fulfill his real calling. He brought a vision to Ananias, Ananias honored the vision and did what God led him to do, and the rest is history. Saul was given back his sight, surnamed Paul, and he turned into a great Apostle of Christ. At many times throughout our lives we face temptations, say the wrong things, do the wrong thins, think the wrong things and it causes offense to God. In so doing these offenses we turn our backs on the Lord. Once we have turned our backs on him he, many times, will let us go through the repercussions of our decisions and we are allowed to suffer. But look closely at the scripture. When was it that God sent someone to help Saul? It was when he prayed. So often we remain without help and desolate of the Lord because we forget to call on the one who can send us the real help. We try every other thing, which usually includes things that offend our Lord, to solve our own problems and get out of our own messes. This usually ends in us being worse than we started off. If we would only see things going badly and turn back to Christ immediately. Say the wrong thing, pray. Do the wrong thing, pray. Stuck in a bad place, pray. Thinking bad thoughts, pray. You have been led in the wrong direction? Pray. Put it into the Lord's hands and he will deliver us from evil. He will send someone to tell us how to fix it and how to receive our "sight" again. Moral of this story? Pray!!! Have a great day!!!
