Daily Bread 11-20-18
Mark 7:24
And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
ref. - Mt 15:21 - Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
By the mouths of two witnesses we know that this happened.(Dt 19:15, 2Cor 13:1). Now that we have established that this did actually happen let us look into why it happened. Jesus was performing miracles across the land. He was doing things that had never been done and he was getting quite a few followers. Many were there to see the miracles. But his purpose on this earth was to lay out a plan, a blueprint if you will, on how we should live and worship. He was trying to show us that no matter how great the miracle that God performs through us that we remain humble and make sure that the people know that God did the miracle. He was also showing us that we need not go seeking acknowledgment for what God does through us. We should just let God continue to work through us and the evidence of it will be undeniable. Jesus was not known because he had great skills in speaking, or he was a great carpenter, he was getting known because people could not stop speaking of the great miracles that God performed through him. But all along he directed the people not towards him, but towards God. In this he had more acknowledgment than if he would have stood on hillside sounding a trumpet. So we learn from this that when God is working through us we need not look for or ask for acknowledgment ourselves as if we send all honor and glory and all worship and praise too him, also directing all others to him rather than us, we will become more well known than the one with the trumpet. If we are going to make a joyful noise, let us make it unto the Lord!! If we are going to seek for acknowledgment, let us seek for acknowledgment to the Lord!! If we want to be well known, let us make Him well known!! Let us seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all things will be added unto us!! God is good, he is great, and he is on the throne!! Praise Jesus for his wonderful mercy that he shows in us every day and praise Jesus for coming to this earth and showing us through his perfect example how to be humble and how to live our lives. It is in him, by him, and through him that all things will be accomplished in our lives and we will, one day Lord willing, reach our eternal home with him! Have a great day!!!
