Daily Bread 11-13-18

John 4:13,14

13. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

ref. - Jn 6:35 - And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Jn 7:38 - He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

We can get our information and even seek our help in many other places. But if we want what we have to last it must come from the Master. In this scripture a woman was standing by a well speaking to Jesus and he was trying to explain to her the mystery of God's will in her life. She was looking with carnal eyes and he was trying to open her Spiritual eyes. She was looking at a well that Jacob had made for them. The same one that had watered them for years and taken care of them for years. But Christ was trying to get her to look at it in a Spiritual manner. This meaning that the way that Jacob had led them had taken care of them but they had to keep going back to the well to receive their water. Yes, it took care of them for a time, but they would have to return and be fed again. What they were receiving only tided them over, but did not completely satisfy their need. What Jesus was speaking of was a Spiritual change, a Baptism that would not leave her and would be with her always. He was able to baptize her with the Holy Ghost. Thus leaving her with the information and the water from within rather than having to go back time and time again only for a portion of what she would need. So, now let's look at this for today. We can either keep just learning and following men who have been given the gift to teach us, or we can become of help to them and have that same Spirit within us. Just as John spoke of another who could fill them with the Holy Ghost, so do men today that can give us the information and point us in the right direction, but only we can receive what God has prepared for us in Jesus Christ and through the Holy Ghost. The food that our souls need and the water that will satisfy and nurture our souls is only found in a Spiritual salvation in Jesus Christ. And we get that by first following what the Ministers teach us; Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and be baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Then we must seek for more from God in becoming obedient to his word and what Christ brought us for today. Not the gospel of Jacob, or any one else for that matter, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever!! Have a great day!!!
