Daily Bread 11-2-18
Colossians 4:5,6
5. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
6. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may now how ye ought to answer every man.
ref. - Eph 5:15 - See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Mk 9:50 - Salt is good: but if the salt hath lost it's saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
1P 3:15 - But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
We, as Christians, were created and saved not to follow the world but to follow Christ. We have been put here on this earth to follow Christ but to lead the world. We are supposed to be sanctifying our lives, and, in turn, getting better and better. We should not have to be reminded of who we are over and over so that we act right or live according to his will. What kind of example are we being if we have to be reminded from the sinner of who we are? We should have the answers to the questions that they have concerning God rather than having them tell us. Our wisdom should come from the Lord and, if we are followers of Christ, we should be ready at any time to speak of God and his will to all who will ask. You see, if we have been called by God he has put a never empty salt shaker in our souls. We will have the right things in us and, therefore, will also let the right things come out of us. If God leaves us we will have nothing to say. We will go about for awhile repeating things and trying to recreate what God has done in the past but the unction and the information will not come. This is why we need to hold fast to our profession as children of God and not stray back into worldly things. What kind of a leader would Jesus have been if he had set his holiness down for a few moments each time he had a lust or desire? The disciples would have soon thought that they were leaders of him and his credibility as a leader would have been lost. So, what we must all take from this is that we do not walk as fools, falling into the traps that we once were ensnared in, or acting worse than the ones we are trying to help. But, rather, that we walk in wisdom, always filled with the Holy Ghost and ready to fight the battle that we have been called to fight. If we must be alone on this earth, then we should be alone. If we must remain clean and holy as the word of God says, then let us remain that way. But, in all ways, shapes, and forms, let us keep ourselves in a shape where we can be of help to the world and not be in need of help from the world. If we are led by God we will be seasoned with salt, we will be ready, and we will have not only something to say, but the right things to say to help those who do not yet know this wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So seek first for his kingdom, and his wisdom, and he will supply us with all we need!! Have a great day!!!
