Daily Bread 10-26-18

Luke 2:48,49

48. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

ref. - Mal 3:1,2 - Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's sope.

Jn 4:34 - Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

This is the point in where Jesus was showing his parents who he really was. He was the answer that all of their prophets had been speaking of. He was the Son of God. He acknowledged it and denounced his carnal family to take on his Spiritual calling. Just as when a Citizen from another country becomes a citizen of the United States of America, before he does this he must denounce his country of origin and proclaim the United States of America. So must we proclaim who our true Father is after we have received salvation. After this day his parents, Mary and Joseph knew, that he was aimed in the direction of his Holy Father. That they did not need to worry about him as he was focused and determined to follow God. His "age of understanding" had been reached. Not only was he letting his parents know, but he was also experiencing it for himself. He was asking questions, and he was understanding their answers. He was explaining things that he had never learned and with understanding. He was surprising all those around him as he had come from a child on his journey with his parents to a child sitting in the midst of the educated and brilliant minds of the Church and running right along side of them! If we look at our own salvations, and the ones that we get to witness in those of our children, we will see a similarity. After faith, to believe that we can go to a place and have the gospel explained to us,(Like Jesus did when he entered the synagogue), then we believe( as Jesus believed what he was being taught by the leaders of the synagogue.) After that we must not rely on the salvation or the knowledge of our parents any longer to draw closer to God, but that of the one that God has put in front of us(Like Jesus left his parents and sat amongst the doctors in the temple.) If we pay attention and take in what we are being taught, we are going to have many questions and we are going to hunger and thirst for the things of the Lord.(Like Jesus did when he heard the doctors speak and asked them questions.) And, most of all, God is going to give us understanding and the riches of his wisdom so that even those close to us will be astonished and know that no man could have put this in us, but God and God alone!(Like they all thought of Jesus when he began to not only listen but to give explanation with understanding of what was being spoken of.) If you think that we are comparing ourselves to Jesus then you are right. Not in equality but comparing ourselves in the example of Jesus as he walked this earth. He was human and so are we. And his Spirit, the one that was in him, is also available to those of us who will seek after it diligently. The results? Well, they will be undeniable and not only will we be amazed but also those around us will be amazed as well!! So, let us use this great example that he has a left us to determine our faith and relationship with God. Let us seek after more from the one and only true God through his Son Jesus Christ!! It will be an amazing trip, guaranteed!!! Have a great day!!
