Daily Bread 5-19-18
And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him.
ref. - Ac 23:12 - And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
Paul had just regained his sight and could now see what was before him. He had once been a persecutor of the cross of Christ and now he was not only a supporter but a minister of the very same gospel. In this he had the information of the Jews, being one, and he also had the true gospel that had been given him through the Holy Ghost. What he taught may have contradicted what the Jews were doing at the time but it supported the clean gospel. This was troubling to the Jews as they had been caught up in a fault and did not want their authority or reputations tarnished. They did not want to give up their power to Jesus Christ(though they actually had no power compared to Jesus Christ) What Paul brought them made perfect sense but it did not promote what they were doing. so rather than repent and humble themselves, they rather decided that they would kill Paul and thus rid themselves of the problem. But the Spirit in Paul was stronger than what these men had. Now, what we need to take from this lesson is many things; We are going to face opposition from those who do not live by the gospel that we are living by and teaching. Ones who have other things in them, whether carnal or false doctrines, will try to kill us off at any given time. Don't fall, warriors of Christ, in the Holy Ghost we will not be defeated. Many of the men and women that have been misusing the Church and what God has given us to support themselves or gain their own power will not like it when we learn and teach to turn to Jesus Christ rather than man. They will gather their own armies but will not prevail against the power and might of the Holy Ghost. So do not fear, true Christian, they have no power over the Holy Ghost. Many will leave the Church and will spend their time trying to gather others and form an attack on those of us who are steeped in this gospel and in the Holy Ghost. The ones who seem to be a strong opposition will be overcome by the power of God when faced with it and will eventually be taken out of the way. Not by man, but by the power of the Holy Ghost. They may remain on their earth and they may howl and moan but their voices will not be heard by true followers of Christ and their opinions will not slow the power that we have been given through Jesus Christ and this Bible doctrine. The final thing that we must learn is that, no matter how alone we feel or how outnumbered we seem to be, God will send more of his followers in Jesus Christ to protect us and be with us when we are in need. If we can only seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness we will then be filled with the same Spirit that Paul was filled with and we will be triumphant in Jesus Christ!! Remember, I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me!! Have a great day!!
