Daily Bread 5-17-18

Ephesians 5:2

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

ref. - Jn 13:34 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as Have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Lv 1:9 - But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all upon the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the Lord.

This is the commandment given to us by Jesus Christ. There is no other love stronger than the love that Jesus showed us when he died on that cross. It is the epitome of love. A man willing to cover our odor with his own blood to make us pleasing to God. We have all sinned and fallen short and his one time sacrifice was made to cover that weakness and impurity. In order to show us the way he has given us much instruction and commandment. But the first is to love the Lord our God. The next, and equally important is to love one another. This is not the love of the world nor is it the lusts of the flesh. It is a deep seeded love that comes from within. A part of that fountain of flowing water that we have been promise through salvation in Jesus Christ. The physical sacrifice has been made and it is sealed. Now it is time to do our part. This is a love that we cannot receive or give through learning and practice. It must come through our souls and be given to us by the Holy Spirit of God in Christ Jesus. So, today, let us pray that we will not love as the world loves, but love as Jesus loves. It is the only way to walk in true love. Have a great day!!!
