Daily Bread 5-10-18
Revelation 4:18
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that you mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
ref. - Isa 55:1 - Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Mt 13:44 - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and sellers all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
2Cor 5:3 - If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
Jesus was approaching and speaking to those who were lukewarm and not hot or cold. They would not acknowledge that they needed improvement but felt that they had it all. What they didn't realize was that all of the possessions of the world and the wisdom of this world don't add up to anything ion the kingdom of heaven. They could have everything that they thought they needed to be good people and without accumulating the things of Christ they had nothing. Still holds true today and will hold true until Christ comes again. So, why he told these people is also directed towards us today. If we want things of God we must go to the right source and get the things we need from the right one. That is Jesus Christ. We need to meditate on things pertaining to Christ so that we may attain the things of Christ. Not dwelling on earthly things but truly concentrating and learning of Jesus Christ. We are told by him throughout the New Testament of the gifts, armor, and fruit that is available through him, therefore, we must attain it. The verse says buy gold, so we say what bout that? Why do we have to buy it? The reference says that in Jesus Christ we can buy milk without money and without price. The information is the milk, and it comes free if we submit, but in order to get the gold we must pay for it. Not in money or what we can bring to the table, we have nothing that God needs. But we must buy this gold with our dedication, devotion, and willingness to become obedient to the gospel that Christ has brought us. If we can attain the armor, and the gifts that Christ offers us then when we are facing judgment we will not be standing naked, or without the things of God. So, we must seek after the things of God if we want the things of God. And to achieve these things we must go through the one who has all the answers and has been put in charge over all things. We must go to Jesus Christ. If we look with our carnal eyes we will realize that we are blind. We can't see Spiritual things with our eyes. Looking for signs and paying attention to worldly things and going by worldly opinions. The word of God says that these kind of people will be denied no matter how long they say they served him or how much they claim to know him. He will say "I know not whence ye came". We were created to see with our Spiritual eyes, the ones that we re given at salvation from Jesus Christ. The salve that we will put on them, for nurture them with, is the word of God and the full gospel in Jesus Christ. So let us press into the Spiritual side of God in Jesus Christ and we will soon realize that all is not as it seems. Our Spiritual eyes will see and our Spiritual hearts will lead us on past judgment and into eternity!! Have a great day!!!
