Daily Bread 4-24-18

Proverbs 13:24

He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

ref. - Pr 19:18 - Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let no thy soul spare for his crying.

Pr 22:15 - Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Here is the confirmation that we must be chastened and corrected in order to become adults in understanding. If you go to a place where all they do is fluff you up where will there be improvement? If they say they love you but do not encourage you to better yourself then why did Christ die on that cross? We are loved and we are cherished by our Lord and this is why his Gospel is filled with correction and reproof. Before we become too spoiled and will not listen to anything we must be shaped and molded. What we learn at a young age is what we will retain and if we never are corrected or led down the right path we will retain nothing but the foolishness of this world. So if you go to a real Church where the Spirit of God is active and flourishing there will be much reproof. This is not to destroy us but to build us up in the way that we should go so that when judgment does come upon us we will end up on the good side of it. It is imperative that we "take our licks" now as if we wait until judgment it will be too late. This goes for receiving as well as giving. Whether we are the instructor or the student there will always be correction and conviction. Not because it is fun or nice but because it is necessary. Them that have ears to hear, let them hear. Have a great day!!!
