Psalms 89:15
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
ref. - Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, an over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God.
This Psalm is a blessing to the people that knew how to walk before the Lord. They knew what they needed to do to gain his favor and blessed were they that were given this knowledge. Blessed also were they who performed what they needed to within this knowledge. Today, we have Jesus Christ to lead and guide us and the Holy Spirit to give us understanding of what we have been given. And blessed are we, who know through that Holy Spirit what is gospel and what is not. The people in the day that this Psalm could have danced and piped to any music, but the ones whom God had chosen knew what the sounds of holy music and a holy offering was. If we, today, want to walk in the light of the Lord, we must seek for understanding of his instruction and direction. We must know the difference between good, holy, Christian teaching, and other things that attempt to draw us away. If we follow the right teaching and follow the ways that we have been shown in Jesus Christ, then we will walk in the blessing. If not, we will have a long, hard road of failure, conviction, and hopefully repentance. So, just as in the days of King David, we must also get to know what the will of God is in our lives so that we may also receive the blessing. We have it very easy today in that we only need to look in one direction. Jesus Christ will lead us down that straight and narrow path and if we stay on it with him, we will be blessed!! Have a great day!!!
