Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to wake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
ref. - 1 Co 15:34 - Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
In this scripture the Apostle Paul is not speaking to the unsaved, he is speaking to the saved and slacking. Too many today that were once on fire now are barely a smoldering ash. We know better and yet we do not do, we have seen the goodness and mercy of the Lord but we go about trying to create our own righteousness. When Paul addressed the Corinthians he said, I speak this to your shame. Brothers and Sisters, are you ashamed of what you have become today? Have your eyes been blinded from the truth that once cleared your vision? Have gainsayers and the self-serving taken you off of the path that leads to Christ? Well, if so take this as a warning and wake up! We have not been given this merciful and blessed savior so that we can go it on our own and create our own thing. We have been given the perfect example who is all knowing and all powerful, omnipotent. As we have been forgiven and we move forward in Christ we are going to have to call on him more and more each day. As we progress the enemy will rage on. Also, as we grow in him, we will become more responsible for what we have learned. He says that if we have been forgiven for something that he will cast it to the bottom of the sea but not to repeat it and to flee from it. So, as the world drifts away from Christ we will be one more day nearer to our salvation. So, today is not a threat or a suggestion, it is a direct commandment that we need to wake up! We need to stop coasting along thinking that sin after sin is all right. There are some that do not have the knowledge of God and we are here with the knowledge of God and doing nothing with it. We should, if convicted by this word, be ashamed of how we have let the light burn low when it is supposed to be a light on a hill that cannot be hidden. It is high time to wake up and be revived!! It is time for we, as Christians, to be Christians and stop trying to blend in with the rest of the world. We are closer to the end than when we first began, so let us wake up and carry our crosses. One thing we know is that we will never be able to predict the end, and another is that we are one day closer to the end every morning. Put a sincere effort into praying to God in Jesus' name like he has instructed us. Not asking for this or that but letting him be in complete control of our hearts and souls. He will deliver us from evil if we continue to believe and follow him. And let us remain awake and never lose consciousness of how we are walking as we strive on for that wonderful holy place called heaven!!! Have a great day!!!
