The Sermon on the mount (cont'd)

Matthew 7:26,27

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it.

ref. - Heb 10:31 - It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

In this scripture, and the end of the sermon, Christ gives us one more warning. We must take heed to this warning today as we have covered this whole sermon verse by verse, and are now in the knowledge of many of his commandments. What we must take heed to is that today we are responsible for what we have learned. We are no longer strangers to the Sermon on the mount, but have gained understanding of God's will in our lives. But we must put into practice what we have been taught, no longer just hearers only but doers as well. Either this or when the trials come we will fail and when the tribulations come we will fall. If you have ever been to the seashore and stood in the sand you will know Christ was talking about when he referenced a bad foundation to one in the sand. If you stand in the same spot as the waves go in and out your feet will begin to sink as the sand under them will be washed away with every wave. The stronger the wind the more fierce the waves. Before long your feet will be sunken in the sand to the point where you are stuck and can hardly lift them out. Next you will be hit with a wave and, when unable to shift your position, you will fall down and the waves will overcome you. So, in order to be founded in the sand you have to keep changing your position and regaining your footing, never reaching a stable unlovable base. In our Spiritual lives if we are grounded in anything but Christ we will constantly have to keep shifting our beliefs to go with the tides and the trials that the world and the enemy throws at us. Things will continuously change and if we don't want to get swallowed up we will have to shift to match the tides or ways of the world. If we try to stand firm on something that keeps changing we will surely be upended and taken over. But if we are foundationed in in Christ, as upon a solid unchanging rock, one that will never change or falter, the tides will have to either cease or they will have to find way to go around us. There will be nothing that the enemy can throw at us to take us off of our foundation as our foundation stands for itself and all others shift to accommodate the incoming tides. And now that we have been given this wonderful information and this good news, we will surely lean towards Christ and let him develop our Spiritual building. We are responsible for what we know, but after this lesson, we know enough to let Christ have his way in our hearts and souls. the rest will surely follow!!! Have a great day!!!
