Sermon on the mount(cont'd)
Matthew 6:7
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
ref. - Ec 5:2 - Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
This is self explained in that we are not to be repetitive and uttering just anything to God. Many times we get caught up in an altar call or in the act of praying and feel like we should be there longer or pray louder because someone else is praying aloud and we lose the value of our own prayer. It becomes about us and not about true worship to God and our own needs. So, in the last two lessons we have learned that we do not have to pray for others to hear or make long repetitive prayers. After all, the maker of the universe and all things is more than capable the first time we make our plea and he is listening to the utterances of our souls not to be heard by man. He will not pick you over the other because you have made your plea over and over and over or because you are louder than the person next to you. Simple instruction for a Salvation that is easy to bear!! Have a great day!!!
