The Sermon on the mount

Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

ref. - Gen 17:1 - And when Abraham was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God, walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Lv 19:2 - Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.

As much as society and worldly men try to discount this verse, it is written and it is the words of Jesus Christ. Mediocrity is not the goal for our lives. Perfection is the goal. Christ is giving us a blueprint or plan for this but we must follow it. If we follow the instructions given we will end up the perfect man. We are not there yet and we need to admit this. Every day is a work in progress but as the saying goes; "if you want to do something good, you have to do something." We cannot sit around and wait fro Christ to make us perfect, we must pray to God for help and believe that he is there every step of the way, helping us. We must strive not for just one or two of the things that Christ instructs, but we must strive for mastery at all things that we have been instructed. You see, we were not put on this earth for a vacation, and we will never run out of things that we can perfect. But we must be in the field and working when he comes. We must be performing at our full potential when he comes. Sin and imperfections will all pass away when we gather over there but we have been shown how to be rid from sin and to reach perfection in Jesus Christ before that day comes. This is not a long drawn out lesson. The command is to be perfect, and the information to achieve that command is in Jesus Christ. Keep reading, it's only getting better. But remember, we need to all become doers of this word and not only hearers. There will be things expected of us when he comes again. Have a great day!!
