Daily Bread 1-9-18

The Sermon on the mount

Today, January 9,2018, we will start a daily study of the Sermon on the mount.

Matthew 5:1

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

ref. - Mk 3:13 - And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

In the beginning of Christ's time on this earth, when he began building an army of disciples and getting this gospel introduced to all who will hear, we must take one very important thing; He has called us, and in turn we had to come to him to be enlightened just as they did. So many times in todays society we feel like we can go about and do our own thing and that when our time comes he will intervene and come and rescue us and beg us to come and follow. But the truth is quite the contrary. Yes, he does know when our time is coming. Yes, he will show us what he has to offer us. But in the end we must be accepting and willing to take what he has to offer. We can read these scriptures that we are going to study and memorize them word for word, but until we come into accordance with them, or agreement to them, they do not mean a thing. What the disciples heard went against most things that had been taught by society and worldly men, but in order for them to become true disciples they had to accept what Christ gave them. Perhaps this is why the word says that there were multitudes, but out of them all only a few actually followed. Thanks to God that this message has, day by day, brought thousands if not millions to the truth and it still works today to bring us closer to God's will. But we must go to him. If we can take one thing with us from all of this is that we must go to him when we need information. WE must also go to him when we need to be strengthened in the faith of this gospel, the full gospel of Jesus Christ. When he brings us the information or the way to find the help we must not only listen, but also make the changes necessary to live in parallel with what he has spoken. His help and his love is all around us, all we need to do is go to Him. He has shown us that he is ready to save our souls and guide us down this path, so let us "Go to Him". Three simple words to remember when times get tough or when we need a helping hand; GO TO HIM!!!! Have a great day!!

This study will continue, verse by verse, until we reach the end of the Sermon on the mount. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave a message on the message bear at www.thechurchofgodofthefirstborn.net
