Daily Bread 11-8-17

1 Thessalonians 2:13

For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

ref. - Mt 10:40 - He that reveiveth you receiveth me, and he that recevieth me receiveth him that sent me.

Heb 4:12 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This is something very good for all of us to chew on today. If we would pay more attention to the word of God, its meaning, and its direction for us, then we would have all of the answers that we need. Instead we go about seeking whatever gossip or tales that we can grab on to. When we are caught up in sin we blame anyone but ourselves and do not take one bit of heed to what the word of God tells us. We are spoiled children going around seeking what we want to hear or what we want to see, while all the time the word of God sits on a shelf. These people were revered by the apostle Paul as he saw them actually not looking upon him or his men, what they wore or how they sounded or looked. They were taking the word of God as the word of God and they were benefitting from it. If we want the Church to help us we must believe that it was put in by God. If we want the Pastor to help us then we must accept him as the divine messenger of the word of God. If we want the help that only comes in and from the word of God then we must take heed to the word of God. Jesus Christ is our only mediator and he will help us if we can only believe. Just as the reference says, If you receive the messenger, then you receive Jesus, and if you receive Jesus, then you receive God. If you are in a place where you just cannot receive the messenger even though he is delivering the pure unfeigned word of God led by the Holy Ghost, the problem is not him, it is you. Take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself, Am I really refusing the word of God because of that man or am I refusing the word of God because it cuts me and finds me in a bad place? The word of God will not change to fit our lifestyles and once we have heard the good, clean, holy, word, we have no other excuse but to submit and be counted as the children of God that we are. Time to stop making excuses(that is all they are) even though we think they are reasons and listen to the word of God. Let it penetrate our souls and transform us and then we will soon realize that those "terrible men of God" have been there trying to help us all along. It is much better to have the testimony of a believer than anything else. If we are in line with God it is because we believe, if not it is because of our unbelief. Lets stop trying to convince ourselves and others that we are believers when we are in direct disregard to what the word of God teaches us. Stop playing around and making childish excuses because this is not a game and there is no excuse that will get us through those gates if we are not right with God when he comes for us .
