Daily Bread 11-4-17

Mark 6:36,37

36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

ref. - Mt 15:33 - And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

Jn 6:7 - Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

We often doubt the power of God and try to put it into earthly terms but his power is truly limitless. If we could just harness that power or become partakers of it we would live a life that is without need. We go looking for it in so many different things, but all in all, and completely, it is in Jesus Christ. In this scripture the disciples had forgotten who they were traveling with. Not that they didn't know who he was, but they had forgotten that they were to depend on him, that he had power to calm the raging seas, that he could heal the leper and give sight to the blind, etc.. When the problem seemed impossible they tried to find solutions in the world and as soon as they spoke to Jesus about it, they received their answer. These men did not doubt, but they went and gathered what they had. So often we go to the Lord with our impossible problems(impossible to us, that is) and he tells us to bring him what we have and he will give us an answer. Even though the answer still seems impossible to our carnal eyes we must believe that it will work and that it is what God's will is for us in our lives. In example, we think that we need a big fancy building to have a successful Church, or we think that we need to do things to deceive people into coming to Church and serving God rather than just staying in the word of God. Truth be told, if we were prepared ourselves in faith and love, all our Churches would be full to overflowing. Our ways are not God's ways unless we have submitted fully to him and are filled with the Holy Ghost. What we will do is cause those in need to be scattered, what Christ will do is show us a way to keep them together. Our natural instinct, what we have been taught from birth, is to rely on the carnal ways of man, but we are no longer children of this world, we are now children of the most high God. When he says to do good unto those who do bad to us, we must do it. Not because that is the way we have learned in the world, but because we have faith that what God tells us to do is the right way and that it will work. When the word of God says for us not to look upon a member of the opposite sex with lustful eyes as this is just as bad as actually committing adultery, we must believe that it is true, and that it will not lead to any good thing. But to overcome this evil and this carnal way of thinking and directing our lives we must truly submit and believe. How many binds has he gotten us out of already? And was it by our own actions or by his wonderful miracles? That is correct, it was only by his grace that we remain today and it is time that we commit ourselves further and deeper than we ever have before and become obedient to his words. What man sees as impossible is only a blink of an eye for God. If his disciples then were weak in faith and needed to draw closer and depend more upon him then who are we, as modern day disciples, to think that we can do it with man's ideas and mans devices? It will not work and by using these ways and tactics we show the world that we are not disciples at all, but just a people using the name of God for our own bellies. If the words and teachings of Christ tell us not to do it, and we cannot keep ourselves from it, we must pray and accept the healing in our hearts and minds that accompanies salvation. If his words and teachings tell us to do something and we desire to do things a different way, we must get on our knees and beg our God for the faith to desire His ways and become obedient to them. We must allow the transformation of our carnal lives and minds and hearts to continue and we must also be willing recipients of his grace and his Spirit in order to one day make it to the end. Let us come together in his house and pray for the strength and discipline to remain in his will and obedient to his commandments. In Jesus name, Lord help us. Have a great day!!!
