Daily Bread 7-22-17

Matthew 2:1,2

1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

ref. - Lk 2:4 - An Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and the lineage of David:)

Is 11:10 - And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse', which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Ps 2:6 - Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

Is 9:6,7 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Nu 24:17 - I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Isa 60:3 - And the gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of his rising.

Wise men still seek him! They had heard of a Savior that was to come, heard evidence that he was there, and saw the star that would lead them to him. All through their faith and belief in what they had been brought by the Prophets did they chase after this ray of hope that was promised them. They were called wise men as they were just that. They brought an offering as they were told, and were confident without a doubt that they had found what had been promised them. They were truly wise men. Today, we must take on the same mindset as that of the wise men. We have heard of Christ, we have seen what he can do, and there is even physical evidence of his greatness and mercy. We have been told that we cannot go to here or there to find him though, as we have now been instructed, through his gospel, that we will find him when we seek him from inside our hearts, minds, and souls. All of the same miracles that the Bible promised when it was written are still here for us today in Jesus Christ. So, let us know that there is only one way to God and that is through the Son, Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and he will watch over us and lead us on into eternity!! It is time to be as the wise men and be willing to travel great distances through the desert just to find Jesus. The desert is there, it is being crossed, and, as we started this lesson; Wise men still seek him!!!! Have a great day!!!!
