Psalms 40:5,6
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire, mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required.
ref. - Isa 55:8 - For your thoughts are not my thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
Hos 6:6 - For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
We think we know how to serve God and we think we know what is required, and yet we still rely on the carnal activities involved in serving a carnal God. We sometimes lean back in to the days of the old Testament when those days, since the coming of Christ, are gone. Although the activities that are carnal are done with pure thoughts and good intentions, and they are good in the eyes of God and man, this is not his main goal in our lives. He wants us to experience something that the world cannot provide and that man cannot give. True redemption and forgiveness of sins, accompanied with true knowledge of him. He wants us to seek his kingdom and not the kingdoms established by man. He wants us to experience a Spiritual transformation in which the weekly sacrifice and the repetitive speeches are not helpful. You see, in the old days they went before the Lord always guilty and without any other opportunity. But with Christ we are given the mercy and grace necessary to be forgiven of our sins and to remain without them. When we say that Gods ways are not ours it is an understatement but it is said in the context of that sometimes your prayers are answered in a different way than you would like, or his timing is not our timing. But if we get into the spiritual meaning it tells us that our understanding of how to serve him is not the way that he wants it done. We must receive our understanding from on high, through his Spirit, and follow the pathway that has been paved in Jesus Christ. To know God is to know Jesus, to know Jesus is to be baptized by his Holy Spirit, to be baptized by His Holy Spirit we must sanctify our lives through the word of God and our obedience to it. And to be sanctified we must first be saved!! So seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you!!! Have a great day!!!!
