Daily Bread 6-17-17
Matthew 25:1-5
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
ref. - Jn 3:29 - He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegrooms' voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
2 Tim 3:5 - Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Eph 5:14 - Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
1 Thess 5:6 - Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Some will be prepared on that great day, and some will not. Some will be awake and some will sleep. What we must ask ourselves is where will we end up? God's perfect will is that we are ready and prepared when he comes for us. The only thing that will hinder us is ourselves. Many times when we get such a great gift of salvation we forget that we must keep striving on to prepare ourselves. We become complacent or lazy Thinking that we have done enough, that we have prepared enough, and that we are good enough Truth be told, there is never enough but we must use what God has given us. You see, at one time all of these women had oil in their lamps but five of them forgot to keep filling them up. They forgot that they would need a lamp that was functional so that they could find their way when the bridegroom came for them. Some slack off on going to Church, others just go but don't seek for more. We must also be using everything God has given us and keeping our Spiritual lives in check when he comes. When he comes he is not going to say, go and get ready, he is going to say, let's go! So, let us ask ourselves this; Are we ready? Are we using everything God has given us to try to perfect it or are have we become idle? The minute that we let our guards down will be the time that he comes. There will be no more people to help us, no more study, no more prayer, just tim to go. This should bring relief to some and put fear in others. Just know that God did not create one of us to fall by the wayside. Be there, be ready, and have your talents and gifts in use. Have a nice day!!!
