Daily Bread 6-15-17

2 Corinthians 8:9

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

ref. - Mt 8:20 - And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Ph 2:6,7 - Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

He could have been sent down here a ruler. He could have come as a shining star in the clouds. But, no, he became a man. He could have made the whole earth to serve him, but instead he became a servant to the people. If he had come as he was, we would have had no example only a ruler. This is what they had before Christ. Today, many are trying to discount why he came down in earthly form and why he lived so humbly, but it was for our benefit. Even as his body died on that cross, he made us aware that our deaths will someday, too, be only temporary, if we only form our own lives after the example that Christ gave us. He didn't act filled with knowledge immediately, he went to the synagogue as a child and asked questions and learned. He went through the temptations and hardships of day to day life on this earth. He did it so that we would have a "blueprint" on how we should mold our lives. Well, we can't compare ourselves to Christ you say? This is the same things he faced when they said he was comparing himself to God. If his Spirit dwells within us then we are given everything that we need to live the way he lived. The word of God says the Spirit will teach us ALL things, not just enough to get by. Jesus Christ himself said that the disciples would not only see and experience the same things that they had seen when he was here, but greater things as his Spirit would continue with them and progress the gospel! It is a big set of sandals to fill, so instead of putting it all on us at once, he has been giving it to us bit by bit as we have faith to handle it. But, make no mistake, his life down here was not just so he could go and preach to the people. He was a living example of holy living and faith in God. So, today let us look to the heavens and thank God for this great example, the one who is not ashamed to call us friends and brethren, and let's pray to God that we will be filled with the same Spirit that has led God's people since the beginning of time. The Holy Spirit!! Have a great day!!!
