Daily Bread 6-6-17
Luke 6:17-19
17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people all out of Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed
19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
ref. - Mt 14:36 - And besought him that they might only touch he hem of his garment: and as many as were touched were made perfectly whole.
Mk 5:30 - And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned about him in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
There is nothing too big or small that our Jesus cannot handle. In his power, mercy, and grace, are all of the things that we need to live a clean, holy, and Spiritually healthy life. As a beginner in Christ we need proof that he has this power. We seek for visible miracles and need to feel his healing touch. When we grow in him and we begin our Spiritual transformation we then realize that the battles that we face are not necessarily within our flesh and bones, but within our souls. Urges to return to where we came from, impure thoughts, covetous things in our minds, all things which can only be changed by Jesus Christ. Now, we know that he is still in the healing business, and he will help those in need if they have faith in him, but our focus must change and our priorities must change in order to receive the full benefits of our Savior. Our focus must be on our inner man as we know the outer man will wither away and perish. Our priorities must be on our hearts, minds, and souls, and secondarily the body. Not to say that we abuse our bodies or let them run down because we are concentrating on our souls. Quite the contrary, in our scripture and in our Spirit we will find that we are told not to desecrate the temple of God, and to take care of the wrapper that God has put around our souls. But, still, inevitably that wrapper is going to get old and die. So, what is our main focus? The same as God's main focus; our souls! Like was said in the beginning of this devotional, there is no problem too big or small that God cannot solve them. Today, let us look into ourselves and determine what is not right in our souls and what is going on in our minds that needs to go. More of him, and less of us! Let us not determine to push these thoughts and feelings out but let us pray that God's will be done. If those things are in there for a reason, ask God to reveal the reason. If those thoughts and feelings need to go, ask him to remove them from you and to never allow them to return. But just as these people in this scripture came from far and wide to receive his healing, so must we go to him. We must seek him until we find him, even though he is never far from us. We must truly have faith and believe that he can reach inside our minds and souls and change the way they are wired, fixing us and healing us the way he has planned. We must also reach out to him and seek for that Holy touch of his Spirit. The Spirit that will help us, heal us, and eventually take us home! We must find Jesus Christ and never let go! This, Brothers and Sisters is the first and most important healing that we need to take place in our lives. And it is all available and ready to be given to us through faith in Jesus Christ. Have a great day!!!
