Daily Bread 5-23-17

1 Corinthians 11:29-31

29 For he that earth and drinketh unworthily, earth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

ref. - 1Jn 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This scripture today is about truth. Being truthful with our Lord and equally important being truthful with ourselves. We read some of these scriptures before taking communion and we think that this is all that it pertains to but it is so much more that just the ritual. Today, we have men and women, living in disbelief, disobedient to the scriptures and the Gospel, without any fear or resentment for the way that they are living and believing, trying to partake of the body and the blood of Christ. They want the reward but don't want to be transformed to receive it. We have men who pose as Ministers without the Holy Ghost, much more some without even salvation, partaking daily of the things of the temple. We have congregation following their lead, seemingly getting by just as long as we go through the motions everything is ok. This is condemning us and damning us to eternal death rather that eternal life. We all want to partake in all things of the Church but who is really qualified? In Jesus Christ is the only way to be qualified. Are our lives and our actions supported by the Gospel? Do we feel any need to repent? This is the problem. Too many just go on as long as it makes them feel good and that they think they have covered their actions and disbelief with man and never truly repent to God. They feel that they have it all figured out because they can fool a few people into listening too them and giving them attention. But, in the end, always knowing that what they have done or are doing is not pleasing in the eyes of God. This knowledge is what condemns them. In order to partake of the social aspect of the Church all a person has to do is show up. But to partake of the gifts of the Spirit one must be obedient and faithful with what is being taught an what is written. We are Spiritually weak because the Spirit is not in us. We are Spiritually sick because our souls are not in the right place and, in turn we are not receiving the gifts from God that we need to survive Spiritually. If we would spend more time looking into ourselves and asking ourselves if we really are fit to partake in the things of God, then we may just come to realize that we all need help. We cannot go one day without help from God in maintaining our Salvations, our gifts, and our lives. Today, do an inventory of yourself and look deep where no one else knows but you and God. Are you where you need to be to receive the promise? Or are you in deep need of help? The reference in this scripture tells it all; If we confess our sins(not to one another, to God in Jesus' name), he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins(not man, but God, in Jesus' name), and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(Not the unrighteousness or righteousness of the world but that which comes from God in Jesus' name.) So let us all look into our own souls and see if the maintenance that we are doing is from man or God. All things that do not come from God will pass away and all things that come from God will go on throughout all eternity. Get right with God and then partake of all that he has promised!! In Jesus' name, all things are possible!! Have a great day!!!!!
