Daily Bread 4-28-17

2 Peter 2:20

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

ref. - Mt 12:45 - Then goeth he, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it shall be also unto this wicked generation.

Heb 6:4 - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

This is a serious issue with Christians today. There is a revolving door to their salvation and they do not realize the seriousness of using it. It is not that God will not forgive us, it is that we are not able to come to repentance. Each time that we leave God it becomes harder and harder to find the way back because there are even more evil Spirits inside of us than the last time. This is why it is of the utmost importance for us to remain under the loving protection of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Pride will take us out of the Church and so will keeping the company of those who do not serve God. Not that we cannot have anything to do with the sinner for we know that we are here as an example to them, but that we do not take part in their sins or have pleasure in them. We, as Christians, born again, saved, Christians have escaped the pollution of the world and we are not made to return. We overcame the Spirits once that told us not to come to Church, not to serve God, and surely not to believe in Jesus Christ. Now they are lurking in the shadows, looking for an opening to enter, and they have brought their buddies. If they were overcome by you in the first place they will bring reinforcements, and without the armor of God we have no defense. They will overcome us. So, again, it is of the utmost importance that once we have begun to serve God that we continue in it. What we have is not a temporary salvation, it is an eternal salvation. It was not given to us for a short time, it was given to us for eternity. That is, as long as we take care of it. No man can take it away but we can sure give it up by turning our backs on God. So let us strive to continue in the mercy and glory of God's grace in Jesus Christ! He gave us the shield and he also gave us the weapons, lets use them to fend off the one that we have defeated. Him and his buddies can march right back down to hell where they came from for we are children of the almighty king of kings and Lord of Lords, we belong to Jesus Christ!!! Have a great day!!!
