Daily Bread 4-14-17
2 Peter 3:13-15
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelt righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
ref. - Isa 65:17 - For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into my mind.
Ro 2:4 - Or despiseth thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Eph 1:7 - In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Col 1:27 - To whom god would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Today brothers are you looking? Are you excited to see what God has for you? Well, look no further than Jesus Christ! For in him dwells all righteousness as pertaining to our lives on this earth. Our peace, our patience, our salvation all lies in what Christ has put in order for us. If we want to be found in peace and ready when this transformation occurs, we had better be striving to be obedient to his teaching. The more you know, the more you are responsible for, but it is necessary for us to learn more of him so, in turn, it is necessary for our responsibilities and our lives to change on this earth. Now many will misinterpret the verse that his "longsuffering is salvation" to mean that he did it for us. But what he did, and is still doing today, is show us how to do it so that we may conquer the trials and temptations that come our way. He has shown us how to resist temptation and has told us that we, too, can resist temptation. He has shown us how to pray in a way that God answers our prayers so that we can pray and have our prayers answered. He has shown us how to treat one another so that we can treat one another this way. You see, it is all good and fine to quote the scriptures and say that we believe, but what we do with what he has taught us is going to determine our outcome. But the naysayers say, We can't do it, it is only for Christ, the righteousness is not here. This is false and it is a lie of the devil. True righteousness is here. It dwelt on the earth for bout thirty two years, giving example as a child, giving example as a young man, and giving example as an elder and chief priest of what is now the Christian Church. His name is Jesus Christ, and if we are to be found without spot or wrinkle when he comes we need to follow his guidance on what is spot or wrinkle. It used to be the putting on of clothes and the cleaning of the outside of the cup in rituals and traditions, but now it is an inner transformation given only by the Lord through the Holy Ghost. It is no longer a question of if you can do it, it is a question of what are you doing today that will assure you a spot in this new heaven and this new earth? Time to get to work. Have a nice day!!!!
