Daily Bread 4-7-17

2 Timothy 1:13

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

ref. - Heb 10:23 - Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he if faithful that promised;)

2Tim 2:2 - And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Today let us keep the words that have been taught us from the word of God and from the mouth of Jesus Christ. All of our problems, our stumbling blocks, and our failures come from not staying on the pathway that has been laid out for us. Even though it sounds too simple, and many will try to complicate it with false doctrine and man made statutes, rituals, and traditions, we must remain in the teachings of Christ. The words that we are being taught that are in Christ, we must pay close attention to and strive to find ourselves in obedience. As we know, this is not an obedience that we can do on our own, it must be a gift from God in Jesus Christ. We must continue to teach and learn that faith and love, in it's purest form, has been given to us in Jesus Christ. In this day there were so many different ways of doing things and so many different doctrines being taught. This is why there were so many scattered about not knowing what to believe. If we can tighten it up and reel it in and stay in Jesus Christ we can display a unified front that not only leads us to peace, love, and faith in Jesus Christ, but it will lead many others toward him as well. Not so much as drunkenness in Christ, but soberly learning of his teachings and of his life, showing him a willingness to be obedient to what he taught, and submissive to a point that his Holy Spirit may have control of our souls. It is in this unity that we will find our blessings, our callings, and the true understanding of God's will in our lives. So let us hold fast to faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus.
