Daily Bread 3-31-17

Matthew 10:40-42

40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

ref. - Matt 25:40 - And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Heb 6:10 - For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Once again, it is about serving one another. Christ was trying to teach his followers how to treat one another. To put another before yourself meant that you, in return, would receive the same treatment from someone else. The old phrase, What comes around goes around, comes to mind as we look at this scripture today. When we serve one another it will always come back to us. Maybe not in the way that we think, dollar for dollar, task for task, and such, but it will come back in the reward that God has planned out for us. So, let us look at what we need to do. We need to receive one another as children of God. Accepting that, though we may not be the same, and our callings may be different, that we have one purpose on this earth, and that is to please God. So if we receive he who has been put in front of us in a spiritual sense, we will listen to them and believe what they are teaching, correct? So, in this believing of the communication of God's will we are transformed into someone who is able to communicate God's will. In this, we have received a prophet for who he is, and, in turn, been given the reward of a prophet as well. We are now able to communicate and God will provide others who will listen to us. If we believe the teachings and examples of a righteous man and we acknowledge him as a righteous man then we will look up to him and strive to become a righteous man ourselves. If we treat those who are in authority or have been given the gifts, even they who are just followers of Christ, with respect and dignity and also acknowledge them and do something good for them to help them we will also receive our reward. So, in essence, we realize through this scripture where someone got the term, What comes around goes around! If we believe in the gospel then we will live by the gospel, and eventually, pass on into eternal life through the gospel. And it all leads back to a man who died on a cross to break the chains of bondage and set us free from our sins!! Acknowledge Christ for who he is and you will acknowledge God. Acknowledge a prophet for who he is and you will acknowledge Christ and acknowledge God. Receive men who are striving to live by the gospel and are gifted through their labour, and help them out, and you will be helping out Christ and helping out God. And, finally, always try to be of help to others and direct them all towards Christ, not taking the honour, but giving the honor and glory to Christ as a true disciple and you will be helping out righteous men, prophets, Christ, and finally the one whom we are put on this earth to please, God himself!!! Let's make an effort to do as the scripture says today and then wait, knowing that greatness lies ahead and our reward has been written!!! Have a great day!!!
