Daily Bread 2-25-17

Matthew 3:16,17

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting on him:

17 An lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

ref. - Mk 1:10 - And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

Isa 11:2 - And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

Lk 3:22 - And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Jn 1:32 - And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode on him.

Ps 2:7 - I will declare the decree: The Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Isa 42:1 - Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

As we go about our day, let us remember that there is no one, not one, other than the Son of God, Jesus Christ, that has fulfilled the prophecy concerning the savior that was to come. He has not only fulfilled the prophecy but also has promised us that if we follow him we will also fulfill further prophecy in that the knowledge and the will of the Lord will be carried out among the Gentiles. To this we owe great honor and glory to God. As we read this scripture it is a beautiful picture to look at. Seeing Jesus Christ rise up straight out of the water and the light descending upon him. He was receiving and displaying the Spirit of God as it came to dwell upon him. The message to the people? The same message we have today and forever until Christ comes again; Jesus Christ is the Son, God is pleased with him, he has been put in charge not only over helping us through this journey but also judgment at the end of our tour through this world. He is the only way that we can receive any type of wisdom, understanding, knowledge, forgiveness, gifts from God, anything Spritual. What occurred with Jesus after his baptism can also come upon us. This is the will of God. Once we are saved and baptized, we can be cleansed form unrighteousness by becoming vigilant in our obedience to the teachings of Christ. If we become obedient to this it will be then that he will sanctify us by giving us the promise of the Holy Spirit. A Spirit of peace, understanding, and all wisdom in the things pertaining to Godliness. This needs to be our goal as it is the highest honor that a man or woman could achieve to have the actual Spirit of their master to come and dwell within them. So, today let us seek for the things of the Lord and know that by no other means will we receive anything to deliver us past the judgment of Christ and into eternal life!! The fruit is ripe and for the taking, won't you take some today? In Jesus name shall all things be established and accomplished!! Have a great day!!!
