For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
ref. - Mk 8:37 - Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
There is nothing that we can offer to attain our soul. Reason being is that it is not for sale, rent, or lease, and it does not belong to us. This body? We can do many things to alter our body and make it more attractive, in better shape, supposedly to last longer, but in the end it dies. Our pockets? We can do many things to fill them with money. We can work, hard, beg hard, steal, many things but in the end? Yes, it will burn with the rest of the world. Well doing? We can donate our time, our money, our resources to help the community and it's inhabitants, but in the end? When the donations stop so does the recognition. So, from this small lesson we can learn that we can gain all the things that the world has to offer but the only thing that will continue on into eternity is something that we cannot improve on our own. It is able to be improved,no, perfected, but only through faith. Our souls are the only thing that will remain when the earth is consumed with fire. Nothing, no not one thing, will stand or survive when this occurs but the human soul. This is the one thing that God is concerned about in us. The condition of that soul will determine our eternal outcome. Our service, our money, our hard work, will profit our souls nothing in the end without faith. You see, all of these things are good but if our souls are in the wrong place, we will not continue on when Christ comes again. We can be doing right but thinking wrong and it will not profit us. We can be giving and working, but with the wrong intentions and goals it will not benefit us. We can spend all of our lives trying to look good in man's eyes but in the end it is the opinion and judgment of God that bring us into eternal life or damnation. So we must realize that our Spiritual lives are more important than anything this world has to offer and our focus and intention should be on building faith in God and allowing him to let His Holy Spirit light shine in our souls!! Have a great day!!!
