Daily Bread 2-14-17
2 Peter 3:6-8
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
ref. - Gen 7:11 - In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all of the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
2P 2:5 - And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
Matt 25:41 - Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Heb 1:11 - They shall perish; but thou remounts; and they shall wax old as doth a garment.
Ps 90:4 - For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
The time is here and the time is now to be ready. If we look at the life and outcome of Noah it is not so far different from today. The earth is not being flooded by water but it is being destroyed in a great wave of ungodliness and sin. Out of all the men that existed in Noah's day, he was the one that was preaching rightousness. He was the one who God had entrusted with the whole truth. And out of all of those men who existed, only a few from his own family would listen. All others were destroyed. Today, there are very few holy men who are being used to give the full Gospel. There are many who are giving a partial gospel and some who call themselves ministers but lack anything pertaining to godliness, but very few who are willing to give the truth. Worse yet, there are even fewer that are willing to take the truth. As we know from this scripture the time is drawing nigh and not one of us on this earth know when he will destroy the world with fire. We do not know when, but if we believe we know it will come. What we need to determine is this; What side will we be on when it does? He has given us thousands of years to take this opportunity and follow a godly path but many keep denying it. Clinging to the comfort and traditions of the world while the clock is ticking ever closer. Many say, where is this God you speak of? If he is real, then why do bad things happen to good people? Why is there so much hate in the world? First let us address the "bad things happen to good people" thing. What is seen and recognized as bad in the world takes on a different light when looked upon by a spiritual person. So, what the world sees as bad may be seen as opportunity or God's will in a godly man's eyes. This is why we are taught over and over again by Christ to seek after a Spiritual path. It is the only way that what the world sees as mountains will be moved from our path. As far as the hate in the world? The word of God tells us time and time again that many will fall to perdition and fight against the knowledge of the truth. The world is going to destroy itself and anyone who has no hope and is not following Christ will be swallowed up in it. His will in us is that we not only believe in what Christ has brought to us, but become doers of his words as well. It is possible to all who will believe but our time is limited. We must be striving for the things that we are taught to strive for. We must become obedient to God's word in what we are brought in Jesus Christ. We must keep the words to this song in our heart as the world condemns and brings persecution on those who follow after godliness. We must stand strong and keep joy and peace of Jesus Christ in our hearts.
