Psalms 89:1-4
1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever: With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up forever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations.
ref. - Ezk 34:23 - And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
2 Sam 7:16 - And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established forever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
This Psalm was a promise to the people of Israel and now, since Christ has risen, is a promise to all nations. When this was written the only thing that could explain this was either the imagination or the divine voice of God. As we know, this was the divine voice of God that has been written for our learning. We now know of one whose faithfulness has been made known and mercy built up and established. We know that this is Jesus Christ. Many go round searching for proof and digging in the dirt looking for evidence, but all we need is a little faith and the proof will rise up within us. You see, this Savior was not made to be dug up or debated because he still lives. Many think that they are chasing the remains of a dead man or need proof from history but if we could only believe, the evidence will be alive in us as well. In order for a throne to diminish or a kingdom to die, so must the Lord of that kingdom pass. Sort of like a captain going down with the ship. But Christ has not, and will not leave us. He has given us the great opportunity to follow a king that never will be replaced and a ruler that will forever be on the throne. If you notice, the scripture says forever. These people were given this prophecy and had hope for all their lives to be able to see what we can see every day. They had faith in God that they would someday see him and they will, but we have the proof in that we have the New Testament that tells of him. We have salvation that dwells within us. We have miracle after miracle being performed in our own lives and the lives of all who will follow him. We have the Scripture that tells of his life, his death, his resurrection! If we believe in what we read and confess our sins, he will come and make a home in our souls. He will, through his Holy Spirit, enter into our inner most parts and establish something that no man can ever take away. A soul that is in preparation of a heavenly calling. We have none other to follow to God but Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever!! Our God is real!!! Have a great day!!!
