Daily Bread 1-14-17

2 Peter 3:3,4

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last day scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.

ref. - 1 Tim 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Tim 3:1 - This know also, in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 P 2:10 - But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Matt 24:48 - But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming.

Today, unfortunately, is the day that many will follow after false doctrines and fall back into the world. We are surrounded by disobedient and aggressive gainsayers that now deny the very grace and mercy that bought them in Jesus Christ. Following Christ has become a lifestyle of convenience rather than a necessity to find eternal life. Many are leaning unto their own understanding and the worldly way and masking it with the label Christianity. When their results do not come on their timing they wonder if God is in it or if the Gospel way is the right way. When suffering occurs and hardships come they become bitter towards God and, while trying to keep their label of"Christian" become disobedient to the very instruction of Christ believing that their way is God's way. Notice that today it is not we, it is they. They speak evil of the Church, it's government, leaders in the Church, and, in turn, speak evil of God without any fear or conscience. They seem to not worry about the mudslinging and backbiting that they do towards what is good as they are the sons of perdition. They are who this scripture speaks of. Leaning unto their own ways and worldly ways to try and fight a Spiritual battle. The knowledge that we have that these people exist and are in the doors and outside of the doors of the Church should create in us, who follow Christ in Spirit and truth, an urgency to be prepared and not be slothful in serving God. We need to not look for the time and the place but to know that it can come at any time. There will not be a flood, there will not be an earthquake, there will not be a hurricane, these things already exist and are warning signs of the end times. What is coming will not be forecast by a weatherman nor will it be anything that this world has ever seen. The heavens will pass away and the earth will be dark. Consumed by fire, even the seas will boil. All things carnal will pass away and be destroyed. Just as God flooded the earth to create a new one, he will also consume this world with fire when his time comes. Do not think that it is good that he has given us another day to prepare because we are not ready, but get ready and be waiting for his coming. One day is as a thousand years and it will come as a thief in the night. Rather than concerning ourselves with a battle with these self willed fighters of the gospel, let us prepare ourselves so that when the times come, we will not be left in the field or on the housetop. Let us be us and let them be them. It is time to leave the principles of doctrine and move forward unto the perfection that is in the Holy Ghost. If we are truly ready to go and be with him we must also be prepared to leave all that is in the world behind. Let us mark them which cause division and avoid them. We have to be ready when he comes so let's prepare ourselves now!! Put in the extra spiritual effort, pray more, follow Christ and his teachings closer, and when the flames begin to roar, we will walk right through and be saved by the Master!!! Have a great day!!!!
