Daily Bread 12-15-16

2 Corinthians 8:16-18

16 But thanks be to god, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

17 For indeed, he accepted the exhortation: but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.

18 And we have sent him with the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;

ref. - 2Co 12:18 - I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same Spirit? walked we not in the same steps?

We are all given this great gospel and God chooses who he will to send out. In proof that he knows what he is doing he sends people similar to Titus. Titus was committed to the same Gospel and the same doctrine that Paul was teaching. He was not in it to make a living or to find a nest for his little birds to abide, but he was in it to show the people that there was a way through this gospel to purify ourselves and be useful to God, a way to achieve a reward called eternal life. Titus had gotten to the level of dedication that he was at in the same way that Paul did and in the same way that Paul wanted the Corinthians to progress. He not only accepted the exhortation(teaching and correction)that had been given to him but he put it into practice as well. He went out and became a supporting, living, example of the gospel that Paul had brought to the Corinthians in the first place. That is, the Gospel of Christ. Paul could trust Titus to go in and teach the people the same things he was taught by the leadership of the Church(Paul). How many of us today are at this level or striving to get to this level that Titus had reached? Are we fully content with the gospel we have been given and the way it has been taught or do we go around debating and looking for something else better? Are we obedient to it? If Titus was going to help draw people to Christ he couldn't be teaching of other things and living of other things, he must teach and live in accordance to the gospel in which he was given. His praise wasn't in the bank account, the kitchen, the fund, the body count, his praise was in the gospel! This , people of God is what we need more of in the Church. This is a call out to all who will hear, we need more Holy Ghost preachers in the Church who attend September meetings and Revivals and will accept what is being taught and believe it. We need more ministers who are only in it to support and promote this Gospel. Standing on the word of God through the establishment of the teachings of Christ and the full gospel doctrine that is believed on and obeyed in the Church. God will call you but you must make yourself available spiritually and carnally to dedicate yourself to the furtherance of the Gospel. Look around you, only a few out there who really are in it for the gospel and this is why there are so many people outside the Church struggling and so few inside prospering. So, let us go to our knees and have words with the Master. Let us become obedient to the teachings and corrections that we receive. And let's stand behind the greatest Church under and in heaven!!
