Daily Bread 12-6-16

Colossians 4:16

And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicean.

ref. - 1 Th 5:27 - I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

We live in a world today that one thing goes for one and not for the other. Thank god that we have a gospel that is not changeable. Thank God we have a gospel that has no part that is only good for one and not for another. What we need to realize, is that just because one or another chooses not to read it or to be obedient to it, does't mean that it is not for us. Paul told the Colossians, "Take this to the others and make them read it as well." He also told the people of Thessalonica that they had better read the epistle also. It was not a different set of rules for different cultures or people of different social status. No, it was a collection of direction for all to benefit from. You see, learning from the mistakes of others and how they were directed to escape the wrath to come was good advice for all. Thank God that we are not divided as Christians, but united. Many denominations have chopped up the word of God just as book taught theologians, but the word of God has stood tried and true for us and always will. There is only hidden meaning in the word of God to those who lack spiritual understanding. This is why there are so many different renditions of the word of God with no understanding. This is also why one set goes by this rule and this set goes by another. We are not created to attack the others or to cast them down but to be obedient to what we have been given. When we have been given the full gospel then we are responsible for it. One Church doesn't believe "this way" and another believe "that way" and call themselves a unified Church. Either one is right and the other wrong or they are both wrong. If they were both right there would be no dissension, but a unified front in the word. This is why Paul caused all of his epistles to be read to others as well as who they were written to. Today, we need to come to unity in the full gospel as one Church, this is when God's favor will rain down and the Church will be overflowing with true worshippers who worship the true God in Jesus Christ!!
