Daily Bread 12-1-16

Colossians 4:1

1 Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

ref. - Eph 6:9 - And ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Do good unto all men. Be obedient to your masters. Obey your parents in the Lord. So, what does this mean? Now masters are getting instruction too? Yes, exactly. This is what turns servants into masters. When we receive correction and fall in line where God wants us, he is going to, just as we are led by someone, make us leaders of others. This scripture is to remind those who have been given gifts and called to a vocation(this means all who have been saved) not to forget where we came from. The same way that God raised us up from nothing into a little something useful is the same way that we are to help raise others up as well. Look at Jesus. He said, everything I have came from my Father, everything I give you comes from my Father, and I hold nothing back. He didn't make himself to feel important and entitled to special treatment. He certainly didn't put on others what he wasn't willing to take on himself. No, he gave all that he had so that others could see the simplicity and the way to God. He did not threaten to take things out on the people if they didn't do what he said. No, he promised them that someone with all power would be taking everything that they did into account at a certain appointed time called judgment. What he was trying to do was to show them how to avoid judgement by living in a way and sharing the information needed to please God. We, as called by God into leadership, are not to hold back one thing from one and give to another. We are to make all things possible through Christ to all who will surrender to Him. In the book of Hebrews 13:2 it says, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." We never know who God is going to put in front of us and if we are only representing Christ and offering things of Christ to certain people we will never know who we have let pass us by. After all, one day someone told us about him even though we were not worthy in anyones eyes. So let us continue to draw closer to Christ in that we take on the same Spirit that he possesses. Let us give this information of Christ and make all things available to anyone no matter what their race, creed, color, sex, anything. Let us give the good news of Christ to all! Who knows, the next person that you show an example to could be the one who leads your children to Christ someday!! Have a great day!!!
