Daily Bread 11-3-16

Ephesians 5:6-8

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

ref. - Matt 24:4 - And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

2Cor 6:14,15 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with and infidel?

Isa 9:2 - The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

John 12:36 - While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

There is so much deceit going on in the world today that to live for Christ we must remain in the scriptures. Men saying you can do this or you can do that with no parallel to the scripture has turned what is called "todays Christianity" into nothing more than blasphemy. The wrath of God is coming down because not only are there men leading that are unholy and disobedient but there are many people following them as well. He will not see his children destroyed by the deceit of worldly men. Today we are instructed as the Ephesians were told many years ago by the Apostle

Paul. Be not unequally yoked with them, be not partakers with them. Why does he say not to be unequally yoked with them? Because he sees in us the potential of great men and women. He has risen us above the world in that we believe and have become obedient to his Son Jesus Christ. We are in better shape than them. Not to brag or boast, but to realize that he has brought us from where they are to a higher plane and a higher purpose in Jesus Christ. God is not going to provide someone to follow us around and slap our hands every time we stray, but he has told us that if we believe and become obedient to Christ, he will put that Spirit in us. We are responsible for our own lives and the training wheels need to come off. If we want to remain profitable we cannot take on things that slow us down or take our focus off of what God bas created in us. Light does not go with darkness for in darkness are the hidden deceitful things that cannot come out in the light. This means that we who are supposed to be in the light all the time should not have darkness in us. We should not be interested in, seek after, or partake in darkness(sin). How do we do this? Glad you asked. We walk into the light and do not turn back. We, through prayer, a willing heart and mind, and obedience turn our backs on the darkness and walk in the light(the teachings of Christ). We mustn't doubt what Christ brings us but believe it so that when there is not someone watching or standing beside us we will remain in the light. We were once darkness but now we are the light if we are saved through repentance and remission of sins in Christ Jesus, let's be that light for the world to see. If we were not capable of it, he would have never offered it to us in the first place!! So, get out there and walk worthy of the calling that God has put in you and have a great day!!!
