Matthew 7:24-27
24 Therefore whosoever hearth these sayings of mine, and doth them, I will liken unto him a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And everyone that hearth these sayings of mine, and doth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it.
ref. - Lk 6:47 - Whosoever cometh to me and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:
Acts 14:22 - Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulations enter into the kingdom of God.
2 Tim 2:19 - Nevertheless the foundation of god standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Heb 10:31 - It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
In the book of Psalms we were given a promise; 89:4 - Thy seed will I establish forever, and build up thy throne to all generations. This promise, this seed, has come and it is time now, more than ever, to build him up to all generations! We read in this Sermon that Christ gave on the mount of a plan. A plan of how we could be transformed and live if we would just listen and put into practice the plan that Christ was bringing us. This plan could not be carried out in us, nor could we even be partially successful at it unless we surrendered to God. A true repentance of our sins and a call for forgiveness. If you look throughout the years our lives have traveled in fads. We received good advice from some and bad advice from others. Along the way we realized that if we followed the bad advice bad things came into our lives. If we followed the good advice, good things came into our lives. We have spent years and years getting rid of the bad advice and clinging to the good advice knowing that it would help us. Well, this message that Christ gave was the good advice from God on how our lives could be transformed almost 180 degrees from where we were at. It is not a fad as it will stand forever. Sometimes forgiving others was a struggle, but with God's help, we did it, and the outcome was a peace in our hearts that could be matched by nothing else. We sometimes had a hard time doing things without chiming our horn for the world to acknowledge us, but we learned that the more we do and the less we speak about it the better we feel inside knowing that our reward will await us in heaven. We were told to stay away from certain people(false prophets) and, though it was hard due to their presence in our lives before we were saved, we stayed away and we started to understand the word of God more and realize that a pure drink is not made better by a little poison. We were told not only not to commit adultery, but not even to think of it, and, even though it was our nature and what the world had taught us,(you can go to the store without buying anything), we prayed and God took those impure thoughts out of us. Not because of the commandment, but because the faith that Christ told us we should not even think of it so we went to the one who could remove those thoughts. All of these things that Christ has taught us and commanded us are going to keep us from eternal damnation and they will not change. All other advice and instruction other than this Gospel will not stay with us forever but will fade away. Let us build our house upon God's foundation and make the cornerstone of our house Jesus Christ. This will ensure that we will not fall when temptation and trials come our way. If we can only believe and put into practice those sayings of Christ at the Sermon on the mount we will stand in the worst of storms and in the deepest of floods. This is our direction, it is God's will and just like the Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians in his second letter, second chapter, verse 14; "Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Chirst.",it is our inheritance!! Believe!! Believe!! Believe!!! and let this gospel and these teachings come alive in you!!! It is Christ!! It is ours!! And it is forever!!! Have a great day!!!
