Daily Bread 6-6-16
Ephesians 5:6-8
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
ref. - Matt 24:4 -And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Isa 9:2 -The people that have walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Jn 12:36 - While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be children of the light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
As Jesus walks in the light, so should we. Not having our understanding clouded by the vanity that is in the world, but understanding that is clear and focused in Jesus Christ. If we want great promises all we have to do is open the word of God and it won't take very long. There are thousands and thousands of them. But some will chase after those who say things that please them. Ones who make idle promises to get what they want and then, in turn, leave us empty and alone. The word of God says that we are not to be partakers of their vanity with them. If a man promises you riches or anything of this world by serving God he is leading you into a carnal salvation. Mark that man and avoid him as he is not teaching Jesus Christ. The word of God says to seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. This meaning that if we keep our focus on Spiritual things. not wavering and chasing after the world, God will provide us with the necessities that are needed to survive in this world. We are no longer in the darkness, children!! We are not living this life to be seen and heard for our great accomplishments and achievements. We are here to magnify the honor and glory that is in God through Christ Jesus!! If we believe in the light, we will be children of the light, and, eventually, the light will shine through us. This inheritance was not once ours but since Christ it now is! Let us take every advantage of this opportunity and seek after Spiritual things, seeking for more of God through knowledge, wisdom, and love. All of these things come when we pray to God in Jesus' name, confessing our sins and becoming obedient to His purpose for us. How do we know his purpose for us? It is not in earthen vessels. We will not get it by glorifying men on this earth, nor do we get it by trying to copy them. It will only come when we surrender ourselves to God and walk in the light that is Christ Jesus!! So!! You ready? Let's get walking!! We got a long way to go and a short time to get there so let us draw closer to Christ than ever before and leave all of the vain promises and vain practices and forge onward into the loving arms of Jesus Christ!!
