Daily Bread 5-19-16

Ephesians 4: 24-27

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

ref. - Eph 6:11-16 - Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore,

having your loins girt about with truth

and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

above all, taking the shield of faith,

wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

The new man! The one we have been waiting for all of our lives!! We had let this world beat us down and our lives were spinning out of control. but then God saw for to draw us to the feet of Jesus. He not only promises us to change our lives and that a new man will be born in us, but he also promises to protect us if we let him! He tells us that we can live in righteousness and that we don't have to go around failing him at every turn. But we must put on the armor that he provides us with and not the armor that that the world provides. It was this worldly armor that caused our defeat in the first place. So simple, but yet so hard to grab hold of for some. What we often forget is not that we are to flee from sin but that we are to be angry at all sin. Hate it, if you will. Be angry and sin not. And we are never to let this guard of anger towards sin down. We are to carry it with us in the day and in the night. Never letting the sun set on it. For when we let our anger reduce then the devil will find a way to creep in. When the word of God says to not let the sun go down upon your wrath, it does not mean what most explain it to mean. It is not about going to bed angry at one another, it is about remaining angry at the devil and his sin. Night and day we must be using our Godly armor to defeat sin. To have wrath against something is to attack it. We must realize that we are armed to attack sin and the devil and win with Jesus Christ. So, let us put on the armor of God, which is, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, and faith. Let us believe that God has fully equipped us to defeat the devil and let us go and do it. Let us get on our knees today and ask God to arm us. When he does it is time to go on the offense! Once it is realized that we can defeat sin and we can defeat the devil in Jesus' name, it will be easier and easier to show the world that God did not create us for failure and repentance, He created you and I for righteousness and true holiness in Jesus Christ!
