Daily Bread 10-10-18

Matthew 10:22

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

ref. - Gal 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

Sounds quite harsh to look at this verse and realize that each and every one of us that follows that straight and narrow way of Christ will have to endure this. But we are not on this earth to serve man or the world. Our sole purpose on this earth is to please God. As it is written, we were created for his pleasure. As we draw closer to Christ and have a greater desire to become more like him, we will realize that he was a man who kept God in front of him in any situation. Now, this is what we need to strive to do with what Christ has brought us. This wonderful gospel is filled with perfect instruction on well doing and love and faithfulness and charity. If we follow this we will not receive the acclamations of those who follow hatred, envy, greed, sloth, and the ways of the world. We will receive exactly what they have to offer, and that is the curses of the enemy. Thankfully also, as it is written, we are given confirmation that, if we put on the whole armour of God, that we will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked. So, this life of serving God in Jesus Christ, under his gospel, will not be easy if we are looking for recognition of the world. But, as it is written, the yoke will be easy and the burden will be light if we stay within the confines of Jesus Christ. This chapter also even goes as far as to say that brother will deliver up brothers unto death and that father the child, and the children the parents. This is God's way of allowing us to serve him individually and to tell us that we are not serving God as a carnal family or as a group of carnal people, but as a spiritual family and as a spiritual people. This word fits like a hand in glove if read properly with understanding. And this, my brothers and sisters, is how we will not make "mountains in our ways" out of our oppressors, but will continue in well doing and allow God to move those "mountains" for us! He is on the throne and his Son is right beside him, let us flee unto him and continue in his ways. Let us not grow tired of his ways and his instruction. Let us endure to the end where eternal life will be waiting for us and our saviour will welcome us to our home on high!! Have a great day!!!!
