Daily Bread 6-7-18
Colossians 1:4,5
Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
ref. - Eph 1:15 - Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints.
Heb 6:10 - For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
1P 1:4 - To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved heaven for you,
The evidence of our faith is, once again, shown in the way that we treat others. If we follow the gospel that we have been given, then we will not only care for those who help us, but we will also help take care of(minister to) them. If our hope is in heaven then we must be transformed in to the type of people who have this love and caring in them. We must be a willing giver of this care. Just as Paul saw this in the people of Colossus, we may also be eligible for this love that Paul had tor these people. If we read the first verses in this scripture then we will know that Paul had favor on these people and prayed for them continually because they were faithful. Not "boot polishers" but people that were truly transformed in to children of God. The reason that they cared for the saints was that it was part of them. They were not seeking for the things that could be given them carnally but they were thankful for what had been reveled to them spiritually through the Apostles. Knowing that their reward for all good deeds to them that were in authority Spiritually would be repaid Spiritually and ending in eternity in the heavens. These were people that believed in the gospel that they had been given. A Spiritual gospel leading them to a Spiritual place. This is the Spirit that we should be searching for and if we have it the fruits will be evident. We will have a genuine will to help others, especially them of the household of faith, knowing that it is part of what God's will is in our lives.
