Daily Bread 3-26-18

Romans 4:11

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had being yet uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

ref. - Gen 17:10 - This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

Lk 19:9 - And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

Christ was showing that it was not only by the law and by circumcision that salvation was come. But by the same faith that was exhibited by Abraham. The same righteousness could be achieved through faith that was created by obedience to the law. There was a way for all people to come to the Lord. Now this being the synagogue which is of the law, and also the Christian Church, which is through faith. Christ did not achieve nor display his righteousness to the Gentile by his obedience to the law, but rather by faith. As well, he did exhibit his righteousness to the Jews in that he was circumcised and had been brought up in the ways of Israel and was of their chosen bloodline and heritage. But this was not to put them at odds, what he was trying to create was a unity in the Christian faith. To this day, but not for ever, the Jews sit in darkness as to what God's will is on this earth and in our souls as pertains to the Christian Church. But the scripture says that they will be coming back and that they will receive their sight one day. This should not bother us nor should it worry us as it does not pertain to us. What we have been given was exhibited through Jesus Christ in the example that he set when he was on this earth. He was faithful to one and he lived not by the letter, but through faith and by grace. He was not, and will never be, limited to one type or race of people, as he has shown us that he is saviour to all. If we come to God through Jesus Christ we will find that all that he has taught us and all the examples that he left us will lead to righteousness. Not man's idea of righteousness as in this shall no man be justified, but God's righteousness in Jesus Christ. So, you see, today we have a great opportunity. It may not be here tomorrow, but today is ours. We can either choose to follow someone who has walked in our shoes and has traveled our path to completion and in perfection, or we can follow someone who has not yet completed that path. Jesus Christ is righteousness to all that will believe in him and become obedient to his teachings and commandments. He is for everyone, and the last time we checked, everyone included us!!! Praise God for Jesus!!! Follow him today!! Have a great day!!!
