The Sermon on the mount( cont'd)

Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

ref. - Ps 41:1 - Blessed is he that considerate the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Matt 6:14 - For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Today we learn that forgiveness and mercy is a two way street. If we want to receive forgiveness from our Lord, we must also be able and willing to give forgiveness ourselves. Bound up aggression and hatred does not make for a peaceful heart and there is nothing better than being released of anger and hate. If we could learn to forgive men this anger and hatred would not remain bottled up inside of us causing us to lose our own blessing. We can be doing everything else in our lives pleasing to God but that element of offense or anger will block the peace that God would like to put into our hearts. Some men are ignorant of this and rather than returning their hate and anger with the same we must consider them the "poor" in that they don't even realize the great blessing that comes in letting go. So, we, as men and women of knowledge in this scripture and this area and not strangers of God's will, must put forth the right example so that blind eyes can see and that deaf ears can hear. Obedience and agreement to this instruction that we are given from Christ will not only lead us down a pathway to blessing and peace, but also light a pathway for those who have not been down it before. If we want the blessing we must be the blessing. Have a great day!!!
