The Sermon on the Mount(cont'd)

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

ref. - Isa 65:13 - Therefore thus saith the Lord God, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

Many think, or have been mistaught, that if you confess your sins everything will be put on a plate and given to you from God. You will receive understanding, righteousness, baptism of the Holy Ghost, and all that God has to offer. Although it is God's good will to give as he will, it is very rare that this happens all at once. If we look at the disciples, they had to learn and be given the faith necessary to be disciples but it was only when they put down their lives as they knew them, and followed him, that they received more. He gave them things in parables and only when they asked did he explain the parables to them. You see, we can repent and be saved but righteousness will only come to those who seek after it. We must make it our desire to better ourselves, it must be our desire to learn more of what he wants from us. But it does not end with just learning, we must be willing to put what we have learned into action, or practice. Let me ask you this question; What should every Christian be seeking to be filled with? The Holy Ghost, right? But that does not come until we sanctify our lives. Our lives are sanctified through the word of God and our willingness to submit and come into obedience with that word. But we must be following whom, as we have been put on this earth to be his disciples? Yes, Jesus Christ. Christ is not only the author, but also the finisher of all your faith, and all things pertaining to Godliness in our lives can be attained through following him and seeking to understand and know god's will through his commandments, his teaching, and his example. God will never leave his servants hungry or thirsty if they come to him to be fed. The reason that the people in this reference were being rebuked is because they expected to be taken care of without going to the Lord and without seeking after him and changing as he commanded them to. So let us seek for more from him while it is still called today, and when we receive let us put it into practice. Believe in what we are being shown and have faith that in Jesus Christ we can become that righteous person that his word tells us se can be. Let us hunger and thirst after righteousness, and we will be filled!!! God is good!! Have a great day!!!
