20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but his with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord share and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
22 By so much was Jesus made surety of a better testament.
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffer to continue by reason of death:
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
ref. - Ps 110:4 - The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent. Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Mechisedek.
Isa 9:6,7 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Heb 13:8 - Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.
If the question ever arises and we need to answer why things will never change as pertaining to the gospel, we need only these few scriptures. Why change something that will never end, nor will it ever falter? Up until the time of Christ, there were many priests. They came, they lived, they died. Not that these were not great men chosen by God but they only lacked two things. They were not the Son of God and could not continue forever. As according to the prophet Isaiah, the child has been born, the Son has been given, the government is on his shoulder!! The wonders and miracles of his peace still continue today. In his teaching, his governing, and his example we find ways to get through things on this earth that cause worldly men to perish. In Jesus Christ we have the opportunity to receive eternal life! God made a vow to the world when he gave witness that Christ was his Son and that we should hear him! He promised us that there would be no more changes in leadership, no more additions or revisions to the word of God. He promised us that there would be one way and only one way, and that this way would exist forever in Christ Jesus. What a beautiful gift that God has given us in Jesus Christ! So, when we come across doubters, "educated" theologians, and others who would wish to show us a better or different way, we know, with proof of scripture, that Christ is the only way!! Have a great day!!!
