Daily Bread 2-27-17

Mark 6:38

He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew they say, Five, and two fishes.

ref. - Mt 14:17 - And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

Lk 9:13 - But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for these people.

Jn 6:9 - There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among many?

In this life we can sink into society, disappearing as normal, doing the same things that anyone can do, or we can call on God and be part of a miracle. Even in Church, we can just become part of the scenery, a part of the bench. But this is not why Christ came to hep us. He wants us to be a part of something so out of this world that no one can deny that God is in it. Jesus knew these disciples had their way of doing things and he was trying to teach them to push for much more. He did not want them to remain average or "normal". No, he wanted them to be a part of something that stood out as exceptional and miraculous. He asked them to take an inventory of what they could come up with to help the people on their own. They did and all they could come up with was five barley loaves and two fish. Not nearly enough to feed the amount of people that were sitting on that hillside. They would surely have to either go to town and buy more or send the people away so that they would not go hungry. All normal and average things to do, but this would not have ever stood out or been written of if there wasn't something from God in it. All Jesus had to do was to pray over the few loaves and fishes and God turned them into a full meal with leftovers for all that were there! Even among the doubts of his own disciples and their desire to do things the way that everyone did them, Jesus showed them the way that God could do it. Today, we go about trying to do things the way that society does them, we remain average, we just disappear into the society of a mediocre world. This is not God's will and this message is here to tell all of us to take inventory of what we can do. Gather up all of our talents and all of our knowledge and all of our wisdom the we have been given and bring it to him. We will soon find out that we do not have enough to even help a small percentage of those who need help and are hungry. But with prayer over these things, these few gifts and talents that God has provided us with, he can make them to supply for thousands! He can turn what we have to offer into something miraculous! What we need to begin doing is not looking to the world and it's ways, certainly not it's limitations and imitations, and start praying more over everything that God has given us. He has supplied us with a means to provide miracles here on earth to all who are in need but we are limited in that we think that what we have is not enough. Without God it is not enough, but in Christ it is everything and more!! That boy had five loaves and two fishes and with Jesus Christ they fed over five thousand people! We can be a part of something that is remembered and used to help people until Christ comes again, or we can just blend in with the hopes that when the time comes, we may or may not get in. God's will is that not one soul go lost, and that soul that should not go lost is yours!! So take inventory and bring it all to the table and let it be multiplied and sanctified in the name of Jesus Christ, let it become the miracle that God created it to be!! Have a great day!!!
