Daily Bread 1-11-17
January 11, 2017
11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
12 The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
13 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
ref. - Nu 10:10 - Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God.
Even in this day, before Christ walked the earth, we were taught obedience and fear of God. It is not just about knowing that he will avenge those who offend us or that he will protect us from the enemy. It is also about knowing that his right arm is held high and ready to strike us for our iniquity as well. The part that often gets left out is the part that hurts the most. The fact that he is not only a protector but also a punisher. As long as we stay within the guidelines and boundaries of God's will in Jesus Christ, we will be a blessed people. We will hear his voice and walk in the light of his council and protection. But as soon as we walk out from under the will of God or lose the fear of God we will be found walking in darkness. A place that we do not belong. A place that is no longer for us. We all need to realize that everything is his and that there is nothing or no place that we can escape his truth. You see, the verse 14 says justice and judgment. A two edged sword if we are not careful. Let us be careful in doing, fearful in serving, and dedicated and devoted in love to serving Jesus Christ and we will see and hear the joyful sound of his blessing as we go about our lives on this earth and into eternity. Let us take heed to not only the benefits of serving god but also the consequences of not serving him. It will be then that we will truly understand the overall goodness and mercy of our Lord!! Have a great day!!!
